I would think one of these would work, probably find them more reasonable somewhere else than WM but here's a link

Here's another link

Heres another brand

and another

Here's some cheaper ones available at your local Autozone

lots of other options also, motorcycle control cables, bicycle control cables, you really dont need a push pull cable, if you spring load it at the latch end and set it up so you pull the cable on or under the dash it would not need to push. for that matter a nice nylon line(think small rope) attached to the latch and the back orf the dash would work, just reach under the dash and pull sideways on the line.

Thanks everyone for all the responses! Thanks for all the links timewarp! The teleflex with the handle was just what I was looking for... I havnt ruled out a "linear Actuator". Any suggestions on that (links)?

You can find them on ebay, surpluscenter.com, a lot of different places. It would just be a smaller version of an engine hatch lift.

I think it would be pretty sweet, you wouldn't even need to go out on the bow, run it right up or down from a dash switch.
