If you haven't bought one yet, this is a pretty good deal. I think it is a one day deal 11/08/13

You need to check with the manufacturer, I believe most manufacturers cored their hulls and the transducer won't work very well if at all through a cored hull.
I have a Garmin 546s on my 28 and I've had it to 90 with no problems, depth sounder is pretty much useless after 40 though. It's a smaller screen but the layout is easy to use and see even when I don't have glasses on and I'm flying in rough water.

I got my garmin 740 on ebay for $839.00 with free shipping
the i talked to garmin and bought the airmar 79 transducer for $80.00
plus i added a garmin external gps just to hid the hole in my dash
this is the coolest touch screen unit
garmin warned me that a in hull transducer will not be that accurite above 50 but at 80 it seem extremely accurite to me
oh
i also added the bluechip 3d chip
i am extremely happy with the unit for the $1000.00 buck it cost me
