Default Adding more engine vents

Ok, since I've had some issues with heat affecting my ignition components I have been thinking of adding two more engine vents to my boat. I currently have two vents, one on each side of my boat. I was thinking of adding two on the rear to promote engine bay ventilation.

Thoughts?

Just make sure a sudden slow down does not swamp your boat if you're thinking of adding vents to the back.

I have a decent molded in swim platform. I was going to add the vents as high as possible on the stern to prevent water intrusion.

Thanks

I have a 260hp 350 and I only have two 15.5x2 inch engine vents. I'm going to order two more and add them to the stern, at the top of my swim platform.

the only thing i have to say is that the vents on the back suck in water spray so i would try to put them somewhere else. Im trying to address this right now too. One person said that your supposed to run scat tubing from the vents on the back to the bilge. I dunno

That's all I have too. Approx 350-375hp small block. I run the snot out of it and sometimes for long times. No problems.

But, I have a lot of air space between rear seat and side of the boat..on both sides.

Question - is it engine compartment heat or electronic heat that's the issue ?

Speaking of engine vents how do you keep paint on those things? I bought some new ones and they flaked off too even in fresh water.

I feel it's engine heat. It gets REALLY warm in there. There's only like 16 inches behind the seats, venting the engine/ bilge area. The middle is the engine cover/ or doghouse, whatever you call it.
