I tried CLR the other day and it worked great. That's what I'll stick with.
I defiantly was working too hard before.

I always had good luck with the "works tile cleaner",actually most bath tub tile cleaners will work, Kaboom shower tub tile cleaner work good as well

I might go to straight thru tips in spring. If anyone is interested in the mufflers let me know and I'll keep you in mind.

Bath and tile cleaners work on same exact principle as CLR...strong base to remove hard water deposits.

Forgot to add always wash this stuff off with water directly after use.

When done regularly the CLR will take about 1 minute per tail. The mothers will take about 5 mins per tail. Like stated it is always good to keep a junk rag and a small can of mothers in the bilge for use if you do not have access to water. Mothers simply wipes clean without water.

I decided to install straight thru tips. I got one on and ran into a problem.

The mufflers that were installed needed the bolt holes drilled bigger and my new tips will not cover them 100%. It isn't very noticeable but I'm afraid that filling them up with silicon will not fully protect my transom. Suggestions? I'd rather not put my mufflers back on but I will if i have too.

Wet sand the marks out then 5200 them on. No leaks and not noticible

I heard that stuff is like cement. Will I have an issue if I decide to put the mufflers back on down the road??

this works great, spray on and rinse off.

Just fill the holes carefully, try not to get too much on the flange, or wax the flange before you put it on. You could also use 3500 which isn't as tough.

i was thinking 4200 would work great,,and its removable.
