Now I like the design of that one!!

Can you elaborate more on the design and material list??

3/4 inch plywood with a couple layers of fiberglass coating it will be more than strong enough.

Hands down nida core. Look it up. It's a bit costly but saves a tone of lbs.

I did look at the nida core and it does seem pricey but may be worth it in the long run.

I really wouldn't give it a second thought considering you said that it's a flat hatch. You can easily save 50-70 lbs of weight . That's a big deal at the end of the day. And it's strong as hell

My hatch is flat fiberglass with a scoop in the middle. It's not very thick and it's pretty wide. It holds all 240 of me pretty well unlike the rest of the deck of my boat...

I had a friend use a piece of leftover sub floor from his new house build. We glassed over it to make sure no water could get in and rot out like the last one. Thing weighed a ton but was solid!

I'd like to make it as light and strong as I can.

I'd love pictures of the bench seat/ sun dck of some boats for ideas.
