I have always used Mr Gasket especially when they came out with the Ultra Seal version and the other brand used was Fel Pro Marine.

The main concern with the HP 500 intake manifold is pitting and or uneven and or erosion of aluminum around the brass insert portion. When that takes place the gasket will fail causing water intrusion.

Most people think this will only happen in salt water use but not true as corrosion / erosion will always take place from dissimilar metal contacts. ie: brass insert in aluminum then the intake bolt material, then the any metallic compounds in the gasket, then the cast iron of the heads all ='s dissimilar metals in contact with eachother.
