Formula flat glass windshield.

I purchased a 1986 242. The passenger side windshield glass is loose. The vinyl moldings are either missing or broken. The glass has all been siliconed with black Rtv in place. I would like to buy all new vinyls, remove all the glass, clean all the pieces, and re assemble everything correctly using new moldings. Has anyone here ever rebuilt a windshield, and how hard was it?

Start here and if you don't find the molding I will look for the other site I use.

Does that just stuff into the aluminum framework?

yes. put window into molding first then slide into alum frame. screwed or riveted together? most likely screwed. try not to wipe out screw slots. if you do, grind head off carefully. you may be able to remove screw with visegrips after disassembly. you can re-drill next to broken screw, but do so without glass installed...

Mine look like a combination of V452 and V470. The channel type might work though. I am going to make a call to taylor made tomorrow.

I'm not sure who made that windshield... FWIW On my Four Winns, the windshield was made by Water Bonnet... One phone call and the woman looked up my year and model and sent me every piece of molding, weather strip...

Mine has "Taylor made" right in the corner of the glass.

The problem is lack of knowledge. Mine are so far deteriorated that i cant match them, and I don't know which one to use. I hope they can just put together a complete kit for me.
