Gonna go with template location. Any problem with the very edge of plate/tab being just over an inch from the outside edge of hull?
Tks john

To visualize this, imagine the boat coming directly at you. Actuate the tabs down down in your mind for each configuration. You'll see the method I suggest only adds downward drag (pushing the bow down), where the other drags the tabs outward (adding much more drag) and the tabs have to be lower further to get the same amount of bow lowering. Basic physics.

I think having them mounted parallel with the hull makes them more responsive. I had 280's on my last boat and rarely ran them below "5" which was just about level with the bottom. Now I have 380's and seem to have to put them down way past 5 to get the same effect.

This will drive you over the wall. Do a search and you will find many opinions. For what it is worth, Steve Stepp of Velocity told me he preferred them horizontal, however most of the Velocitys have them mounted parallel with bottom. My VR 1 has them parallel but if I had been the one having them installed would have likely mounted them horizontal.

Thank you for calling ss930... I really appreciate it. Been a long project and getting very close to paint soon. I was in a rush to get the tabs mounted so I can get the engines in and plumbed prior to paint.

Tks for all the help guys.
John.

I did the install myself with the help of a very good buddy of mine on my velocity 290 and we mounted them parallel with the bottom. It's an easy but time consuming install.

I bought an extra day due to bilge paint dry time. Didn't want to drill and get shavings in fresh polyurethane. i figured as long as I had outdrive pumps removed I'd finish off behind them.

However to answer your question.... I'm gonna post pics tomorrow. Lol.

Wanted to go horizontal however due to the bulky trs inner transom plate etc it leaves me with mounting parallel. I wanted the horizontal install to work after some discussions with a couple individuals it really made sense. Other issue I was running into mounting horizontal was drive clearance. Those trs are hogs. Regardless I'm glad looked at both options. End result is they will still do what there intended for - just not as efficient so to speak.

Tks for the help and insight.
John.
