just use a GM truck unit from auto parts store, swap over pressure regulator and spring from under large nut where pressure line connects, that will keep pressure where it was, now I have been told that the $500+ merc pumps made by AGR use a bearing instead of a bushing, but I have never taken one apart to see if that was indeed true...also those rebuild kits listed above will not fix your pump if you burnt it down, there are several more parts inside that would need to be replaced, pump is cheaper

I did that once after changing engines in my old boat. Went to the local NAPA store to get a new power steering pump. The guy behind the counter tells me to try the Lucas Oil Power Steering pump repair fluid. About $10 a bottle. Tried it and it worked great ,and continued to work great for years. Ohh and its guaranteed to work or your money back. Give it a try.
