Power steering pump compatibility question
I have a mercruiser part num. 849906A28 power steering pump, it looks like a gm pump . Anyone know if it crosses over to another part number? I'm not interested in paying the $675 for a mercruiser pump
Thanks |

Look at one of my post, it is a Cadillac pump from a 4.1 82-85 Seville engine,,,,get this,,,,rebuilt 46.00 at autovalue parts store,,,add a little paint and use your old relief valve,

And this cadillac pump definately works. My 500EFI's pump is weak at idle speeds. Makes it interesting around docks !!

We ended up using the one that came with the rebuilt,,,works fine,,,don't know if there is any difference between marine steering,vs,auto relief valves,,,,I still have the pump I took off,,,the relief valve is still on it,,,,,,,

Good to know, thanks Twin.

Pressure ratings are different between the valves for an Auto Saginaw Pump and the marine version.
