Question Power steering pump compatibility question

I have a mercruiser part num. 849906A28 power steering pump, it looks like a gm pump . Anyone know if it crosses over to another part number? I'm not interested in paying the $675 for a mercruiser pump

Thanks

You can use a regular old GM pump you just have to swap out the pressure relief valve.

Look at one of my post, it is a Cadillac pump from a 4.1 82-85 Seville engine,,,,get this,,,,rebuilt 46.00 at autovalue parts store,,,add a little paint and use your old relief valve,

And this cadillac pump definately works. My 500EFI's pump is weak at idle speeds. Makes it interesting around docks !!

What if you don't have an old power steering pump to use the relief valve from? Can you buy the right relief valve on its own?

Pressure ratings are different between the valves for an Auto Saginaw Pump and the marine version.
