Well i took a quick look at the SB and misinturpted the meaning, i have chased this rumble for so long i just jumped to the conclusion that the drive shaft was not secured correctly when in fact it's a update for the new part and the correct bolt. The knuckles were still in pristine condition and replacing them would have only made things worse since the original's were balanced to the CV. I just bolted her back up and live with the low end rumble i've had a few guy's other than myself look at this thing and they cannot see or find any fault in the setup....Now have you found something???? The only thing i we could ever come up with is the drive not only pivot's left to right <-------]-------> but also angle's a bit on the turn \-----]-----/ and simply believe that sets up some kind of harmonic...who know's.

I have a V- 8 Volvo SX drive pwr with steering. Its a 2000 year model in now that I just started working on.
It will vibrate and make noise ONLY in gear at full lock left and full lock right of the steering wheel and ONLY in the water and ONLY in GEAR - WILL NOT do it on the water hose nor in throttle only nor in throttle only in the water either at any rpm's or trim level. Nothing very smooth
When it vibrates and is making noise in gear at idle and steering wheel full locked turn even on the trailer you can pull back into N everything becomes very smooth - put it in throttle only at any rpm even 3500 rpm - trimmed half way with steering wheel locked full left or right nothing - smooth as silk - shift in fwd or rev at idle full left or full right of the steering well - you have vibration and noise once again.
For testing so far I Put a brand new Aluminum prop on and speced the propshaft for straightness all perfectly good there.
. Next info - straight ahead and 9 & 3 oclock on the steering wheel nothing even at full throttle 5000 rpms trim half way up Nothing - no vibration no noise - no nothing. .
Everything is pristine including the alignment is so spot on that I can use any 2 fingers and slide the tool in and out.. It has only 200 hours total run time.
I am changing the U- joints next regardless. It is not the gimbal bearing. Know that 100 %
could be Pinion bearing outer and or inner but think its the u joints and possible the yokes either out of round or unbalanced. the balance is so important with these Volvo's. I am back on it tomorrow with new U-joints.

Well i can tell you i have a 2001 SX-M one oddity that does exist is the gimbal bearing sit's in some kind of other bearing that allows the gimbal to rotate on a 360 axis this inner bearing does bind at high and low obtuse angles that is if you take the alignment tool and and swivle it around no binding occurs but take the alignment bar and force it to a high say 60 degree angle hard left... stop and slowly move it.... i do get some bind and on all four corner's and only when slammed or pushed is a better word. The vibration starts however when the drive is centered... on and while under way and small turn's.....The drive way is never a problem prop on prop off...only underway slow speed and the vibration is never proportional to speed
The ujoints and gimbal as butter smooth. And PS steering included.
