Mpi running rough after heads installed

I've been having water reversion problems with my Mpi 350. I had the heads sent out for a valve job. I installed new flappers inside the tips and out.got everything back together and ran it on the hose everything seemed OK so I dropped it in the water and took it for a ride.it seems to idle pretty smooth but once you give it gas it runs very rough.this was the first time I took a set of heads off and reinstalled I went slow and marked everything but wondering if i was off when I reinstalled the distributor. I didn't retime the motor because I marked its location. The motor was at 1# top dead and the rotor was pointing at 1# post. What could I be missing?

Double check the firing order. Often times people get the 5 and 7 switched.

I'm luck is not that good. double check, everything thing is where it should be.

Well put a timing light on it, maybe the distributor is off.

Where can I find the correct procedure for checking the timing? It's a 2011 5.7 mpi

We do the marks at work, of course. Never had one, or even close to right on when fired up.

i have seen people think they can time the engine by ear,in other words by the sound of the engine.fastest way in the world to ruin an engine.it will sound great but be to advanced and detonate it to death.as griff already mentioned,PUT A TIMING LITE ON IT.

He should be pcm555 and guess what, the computer uses the cam and crank sensors to do the timing for you, there is no way to adjust the timing. However, there is a proper indexing to get it close, so the computer can read and get the timing where it should be.
