Joe did a fantastic job on these new engines, and they look beautiful too,, I will post a pic if I can figure out how to .

Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, we could not get manifold pressure to register on the dyno screen. We had to tape a big pressure gauge to the control room window. I don't know if the 420 made boost a little faster because of the overdrive speed, or if it may have been the carbs.

The 420 has a pair of 750's with 850 baseplates that were flowed at 830cfm. The littlefield has a pair of 850's that looked like they had been worked over pretty nicely. I have no history on them. Possibly the tq was lower because of the bigger carbs?

I am overall very happy with these engines. 800hp and prop for 6000 rpm was the goal with a stable valvetrain and moderate boost. Crane 651 cam, Crower SS rockers, Manley .135 wall pushrods and stud girdles. I really feel like I won't have to even pull a valve cover off for a couple seasons. I will fine tune the AFR's on the water

Should last a long time with that valvetrain combo and setup.

Good work !

Thanks everyone. Thanks Mike for dropping off the drive guardian today. What a nice liking piece of work. I think I will spend the rainy weekend getting the engine in the cat and doing some re-rigging

Well, I finally got everyone else's boats done and got back to work on my cat. Splashed it yesterday and ran 105@6000rpm. I was trying to break 100 with this heavy old cat without going bankrupt. I would say mission accomplished. Might even get a little more out of it with some setup work. Thanks everyone for your help.

Now here is my next question. While talking to my guy at Advantage yesterday, he told me that the boat would be faster with 1.36 gears and a smaller prop. Currently running a 32B1 with 1.5 gears. This goes against everything I have ever read about the subject. I have a 1.36 lower, but it would work out to 29P prop if the slip stayed the same. I have a 28 and a 30 that I can try, but they are both LH. Any input?

Joe, Are you bringing the Advantage CAT to Nashville?

What's the deal with the Nordic flame???

Oh yeah, post a pic of the CAT so I know what to look for next month.

snapmorgan 06-14-2017 09:04 AM

Not going to Nashville this year. Going to Cumberland and LOTO instead. The Nordic is badass, love most things about it. Sold the 28 Advantage v hull. You get your engine fixed? There is a poker run on KY lake this weekend if you want to come down

frickstyle 06-14-2017 09:29 AM

Well, that stinks, but you have been doing Nashville a few years in a row.

I should have done Cumberland instead too. BUT, I like going out in Nashville.

Yes, have had the boat out last three weekends, seems to be all good. Hope she stays together for the season.

So you are running two boats? where are the pictures of these things???
