Hey guys I'm fresshing up my street 550hp 469 BBC that's going into my boat, now that I have it apart my cousin was telling me that I should look into giving the engine block a salt water treatment for the coolant passages ?? thanks

never heard of such a thing,the anti freeze pretty much keeps the water jackets clean and rust free.are you going to use it in salt water,if so i would look into closed cooling with a heat exchanger.

Soon as you put it in the water it will get the salt water treatment !!!

So you telling me that new marine iron blocks aren't treated in any way? And I'm talking about the ones that didn't come with closed loop exchangers. I know about the closed loop systems but they are pricey!!!

some say bronze freeze plugs. main thing you have to look at is compression ratio and cam.

All you can do is flush, flush, flush and reflush immediately after every use. It's just the way it is. Your going to get corrosion no matter what but with proper care you can buy a little more time before replacing block, heads and intake.
