Default 525 crankshaft sensor

I believe I need to replace the crankshaft sensor on my 525 motor. Does anyone know if there is a cross reference part number for GM?. Through Mercury, the part is $200 or so.

I don't think so, because it's on the timing cover and is part of the Merc. timing set but I'm not 100% certain of that.

If no one answers, pull the sensor and get the printed #'s off it, and we'll do some digging.

I think I found it:
AC Delco # 213-3208
(GM #12596851)
Delphi SS10125

============================

This is how:
I found Quicksilver Camshaft Position Sensor #864297T01 was listed for the foloowing Mercruiser engines:
Applications
350 MAG MPI ALPHA/BRAVO/BRAVO EC
350 MAG MPI HORIZON ALPHA/BRAVO EC
350 MPI ALPHA
377 MAG MPI BRAVO/BRAVO EC
383 MAG STROKER
383 STROKER SCORPION BRAVO
5.0L MPI ALPHA/BRAVO/BRAVO EC
5.7L MPI HORIZON MIE
5.7L MPI MIE, MPI MIE EC
5.7L MPI TOWSPORT WITH GEN III
525 EFI
565 EFI
6.2L MPI HORIZON MIE
6.2L MPI MIE, MPI MIE EC
600 SCi
662 SCi
700 SCi
8.2L INBOARD (Base) EC, (H.O.) EC
8.2L Mag (Base Model), (H.O. Model)
8.2L Mag EC (Base Model), (H.O. Model)

And since I know the Merc 7.4's and 5.7's use the 7,4L and 5.7 GM factory crank sensor set up, they use the same one, I looked that up at ACDelco.com.

Looks like Amazon, Summit Racing, and etc sell the AcDelco for about $55.00.

Here's the Amazon link:

Disclaimer: I am usually 95-98% correct when I find ACDelco parts for the Mercruiser Engine's when I do it this way.

So.........you need to make sure...which will be easily done when you buy this one and you pull your's and compare it side by side.

Hope this was vaild info and it works for you !

That just goes to show you what that thick shiny black (blue) paint is worth cuz it triples the price of everything.

Hey SB, looks like you know what you are talking about, so here goes. When my motor stopped, I looked at my vessel view, it said crank/cam sensor failure. I'm assuming it was the crank due to the way it just stopped and wouldn't start. My question is, can I read a code off the computer with just an automotive OBDII reader that may be more specific to either the cam or crank sensor?

You need a Rinda scanner to read the codes. An OBD scanner will not work.
