Just got all my gaskets. Was at a boat mech shop and mech said shifty fuel could have caused the head gasket blowout. I told him I use reg octane 87 and he said that is what caused it???? Can that really do it????

No F'ing way, your shop mech is a dumb a$$.
The motor was designed to use 87 octane and using anything more just cost money. My guess is your motor got over heated maybe due to a impeller which should have been changed.

How much fuel sat 2 years and how much did you add new this year? Even if it was all old, that isn't that old. Could possibly been a contributor. Enough for now. Head gasket surfaces...

Not good. The head has a burnt section between cylinders 3 and 5. So a few questions now:

1) can this much damage really happy in like 30-60 seconds of working the engine hard (overload)???? Or could it be that I've had this for some time which maybe caused my low power????

2) is this repairable, or should I look for a new/used head???? If I need a new one, what is the part number I'm looking for when I start calling wrecking yards? Will any head from a 454 work?? Does it need to be 100% the same as the other side being that I'm not planning to do the other side.

3) BTW - I did the water test. One side held 100%. When I turned it over and tried, the other side has 2 of the 4 with slow water leaks through the valves. What does that mean????

Thanks

Oh yeh. Have made channels beteen comb chambers like that but much deeper and wider in seconds. Damn nitrous. LOL.

Yes, can be fixed. Call around locally as cast iron BBC heads are expensive to ship anywhere,

Dumb question. But can I JB Weld this thing? Or any other home options? I've got a buddy who works in a metal yard and he has a welder at home. Can this be welded? Thanks

No. Both dumb. Not dumb to ask though. Cast iron has to be put in an oven and welded on the oven. Google cast iron welding.
