Nothing tuns perfect, so over time the cylinder will be a bit deformed, how much depends on many things. If your going to build/rebuild a motor, IMO you want to start fresh. Take as little as you can if that's the issue. You can still buy brand new 502 blocks, even from Summit for under 2K
Here is a good read, https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...-can-go-2.html |

What tells you if it needs bored isnt the fact its apart, its the condition and measurements of the bores, If its well within tolerances and in good shape, its within tolerances and in good shape,

Sorry but maybe were missing each others point. You don't want to bore because the blocks are hard to find. I said you can still buy new ones, and also the thread where some have bored .10 over, so yours could be bored again some day.

I may have a set of low hour JE forged forged flat top pistons that are .002 over stock where a good hone with a torque plate will get you there. If you’re interested I’ll double check. $125 shipped. A 500EFI cam should get you to 500hp without having to reinvent the valve train. |

I’m in no hurry. If you were within driving distance I’d just give them to you. I believe eve they are these. 281916 Product Detail Information - JE Pistons |

Well, It needs to be bored out, honed it .002 and on one cylinder it didn't even touch the top 3 inches. Anyone have any recommendations on pistons? I think Im going to have to go to a 4.500 piston.
