So The Hell With It, Rebuilding 502, Need Some Direction

My last post was a oiling issue, I some what figured out the issue thanks to everyones help from OSO. Now what I'm doing is pulling the engine, and vatting it, followed up with a rebuild. (bearing, rings ect.....) So what my question is, my engine is a roller motor with fuel injection. I'm wanting to run a better cam, but nothing that I have to worry about reversion if my exhaust cracks, just want to make more power. I have searched best 502 mods on here and the threads were pretty dated. My question is what are some proven combinations. with or without FI. I cant let the build get out of hand financially, so I'm gonna stay hyd roller, not going to solid. I would like to see 500Hp.
I currently have a pretty stock 502 with rectangle ports, the heads have been slightly ported with a 2.25 valve. I also have CMI exhaust.
I live less than a mile from summit racing in Arlington, and I'm going to try to have this thing back in the boat in weeks. I do not have time to order a custom cam, So I'm looking for something off the shelf. I do like the idea of have FI, but I know that limits me. Any help would be awesome.
Also I'm leaving the bottom end stock unless it has to be bored.

Builders should be along shortly but your need to at least bore .030 over to get the cylinders trued up

I really didn't want to bore it unless I had too. I have been searching for blocks and it hasn't been very successful. do you know the bore limits on a 502? figured unless necessary I would preserve as much life of the block as I can. if it makes that big of difference then I might go ahead.

Lots of people bore 500EFI's out to be 540's (or 555/565). I did a pair years ago but spent ALOT of money on other changes too. The problem will be the plenum, it's just going to let enough air in to get to/over 500hp. the other problem becomes torque. 540ci can make more tq than bravo drives really like. Although that hasn't stopped very many of us! LOL

I'm not wanting to kill my outdrive till I can afford a built one. I have read on here where people get 500hp or claim 500hp with 850 holley, airgap and good cam. How true that is, I dunno. They were very dated post. I'm not able to spend the money right now to stroke the engine. I have been looking for another block to do as a side project. that way I can build at my own pace.

If you all ready have 2.25 intake valves and good exhaust, contact Tyler Crockett. He has a known combination with custom cam, springs to match, and a reprogram for your ECM which he can do. Oh and an adjustable fuel regulator. Should put you right at 500hp. He is in Michign, good dude, knows his stuff.

Nothing tuns perfect, so over time the cylinder will be a bit deformed, how much depends on many things. If your going to build/rebuild a motor, IMO you want to start fresh. Take as little as you can if that's the issue. You can still buy brand new 502 blocks, even from Summit for under 2K

Here is a good read,
