Keeping aluminum looking nice with salty air.
I put some aluminum diamond plate in my bilge which I may regret, but so it is. I boat 95% fresh water but the air where I live is salty enough that the aluminum dulls out pretty quickly. I tried Mother’s paste but it really didn’t touch it. They’re panels that I glued down and mounted the rigging on so pulling it out to polish or anodize isn’t a practical option. Any tips to polish it back up and protect it?

Flitz just came out with a spray on ceramic coat. I bought a bottle at boat show to try on my exhaust and stuff. Might be worth checking into

I`ve had good luck with Ceramic coatings... I find it works better on metal and upholstery than paint actually.
Did my exhaust tips , they were MUCH easier to clean (had to reapply midseason) and the upholstery in the boat was just an easy wipe down instead of cleaning for 15 minutes with Mr. clean pads to get the white clean.
I bet the professional products are even better (I couldn`t get anyone to sell them to me) . It is very easy to put on.

Shark hide is a pain to put on, streaks and i`m not too impressed with it .. used it on my tabs and lowers and ceramic coatings blow it out of the water , pun intended

Paint it with Rustoleum. I swear the stuff holds up better than Interlux and Petit. I did an aluminum diamond plate step pad and it corroded, hit it with a wire brush and painted it with Rustoleum White and it looks like it was sprayed. When I redid my bilge I used some Interlux White and Petit epoxy White as well as Rustoleum. The Rustoleum white is by far whiter than the other two and it held up to water and oil better too. Go figure...

I think about the diamond plates and salt before put in the hull!
As i use boat in summer also in saltwater and so i have them powdercoated 3 times!
First e poxie ground,silver and then clear powder at last!
This will hold for years i hope as they not easy to take out again!
