Default Fuel in crankcase Mercury Racing 500 EFI !

After a hard run (ran, perfect - no missing) opened engine hatch and discovered oil had blown out the dipstick all over and it’s mixed with fuel. What could cause this? Any suggestions on what to check first? Boat is a 2003 Conquest.

a burnt piston due to a bad injector would be my guess.

OEM Merc racing 500 efi does not have a VST. nor never did.

For the record - this engine has the crappy Multec fuel injectors. I can not stress enough about those 1988 designed injectors. THEY all ( fuel injectors ) have a service life -- ESPECIALLY the MULTECS.. Most likely these 500 efi Multecs are serviced life out. I am telling you guys straight up. In the past 3 years I have prob tested more of these Multecs on the planet than anyone combined. And more times than not they are bad inwhich caused the engine failures. Even marine engine builders are sending me the injectors in before they rebuild so they can pin point what the next game plan is plus price their build accordingly and correctly.

The good news is guess who has very CURRENT plug and play replacement injectors.

for the apps that did or do have a VST the main problem with those are LOW fuel pressure causes half the issues for a jist of it, . Just saying.

Again the OEM -- HP 500 EFI never had a VST fuel system set up nor anything close to it. ------ It has a GEN 2 cool fuel system.

The issue with over fueling also could be the fuel pressure regulator as well and or MAP sensor in the mix. But these injectors are poor performers after so many years without a doubt.

Is it possible from leaky injectors or one stuck open. That would be the best case scenario. Otherwise what mike said but that would suck. You woulda noticed performance loss. If your lucky and it's an injector issue I'd take BUPS advice on next step. Replace, rebuild or whatever it be.

Regardless compression test would be in order asap for a piece of mind.

Went back to original thread and and forgot about the dipstick blowing out while posting earlier thread. Where was the oil level? I take it you've been running boat and hasn't sat for any long length of time. Do a comp test and let us know.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Yes drooling injector(s) - and or stuck open and or the ball and seat ( Multecs) does not seat fully during opening / closing (pulse width) -- that will cause over flowing (high volumes) of fuel.

BUP when will you be selling the new injectors? If so has a price been established? We have 380 hours might be time to consider new injectors.

Thanks

I have them and had since early part of 2018. Have them in 4 boats but so far the highest hour boat / engines has about 61 hours on it thru out the 2018 season. Its a winterized currently and did not have any issues period. So happy about that alone.

The cost is 95 bucks per injector plus shipping. - all brand NEW - tested even tested again just before I ship them out. They come with flow / spec sheets as well. - these are NOT remaned nor are NOT used, nor are junk knock offs either, again they are BRAND NEW , .I strongly recommend NO mix matching of injectors. I have people call and ask - I need to replace 2 or 3. I have to turn those requests down for very good reasons.
