Default 1990 wellcraft 17' sport

Hi i bought a wellcraft sport a week ago with a trailer that has been parked for five years. the last owner told me he just parked it one day and has not moved it since. i started taking it apart and noticed it needed a new starter, belts were dried out, and want to change the water pump. he informed me it was cheaper to buy chevy parts and they would fit. any advice or link to a website that i can order after market parts? or somewhere that would have all the part numbers i should be looking for?

In short no, while there are parts that are used on autos, which are the same as for a boat, the thought of looking for auto parts will lead you down the wrong road. Need to remember first, a boat cost more to operate and maintain then most other hobbies, other then an air plane. It will almost never be cheap

Lets start first with telling us what your working on. Is it a Mec, VP, other, a V6, 8 or 4 cyl, and what drive?
Motor serial numbers are best

As far as i can see it is a Mercruiser, 4 cyl, 125hp inboard engine. I have tried looking for more information with the boat vin on the wellcraft website and they don't show any older then the year 2000. the coast gaurd plate is also unreadable and not sure where the vin for the motor might be.

GM did make the motor but it was never in a car, its either marine or industrial. Being a 4 cyl it would be 3.0L and the parts list for the motor can be found here
