Vortec heads
I have a 1996 Baja 240 7.4 L 4bbl. Runs great but looking for a little more power until I can get a 496 done.
This is a pre Vortec transional engine (L-29 block but came with peanut port heads)
I purchased a 2000 Vortecec 7400 rebuildable engine core and am planning using these heads in place of my old 118 cc peanut port heads. Looks like if I square up the 100cc 7400 head by milling a few thou. and use a .027 cometic gasket 9.5 to 1 or a little more shoud be doable.
What cams have been working best with this head with 9-10 to 1 compression?
The GM 454/502 HO cam 510/540 .211in .230 ex.looks like an inexpensive option. Any one have experience with this or similar combos. Valve clearance issues??
