Running hot
mercruiser 8.1 getting EMCT warning both manifolds. Due to Stainless Marine suggestion the hose between oil cooler and manifolds were deleted. Is this enough to cause low flow and overheat. Pumps all new, water pressure 15 psi at 3000rpm.https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...a031749d2c.png |
Could use a serial number?
water pressure 15 psi at 3000rpm Get a piece of clear hose at the hardware store, double barbed fitting and couple clamps. Install the hose at the inlet side of the HX and take it for a run and look for bubbles. If there is bubbles you have an air leak |
Both engines running same 15 psi, leaks possible but no overheat on port engine with original hose connections. Engines both 2004 OW16——- |
Both engines running same 15 psi, Its either the cooling water system or the sensors. Figure your codes are 160 and 179 Could use an IR temp gun and compare temps at the sensor locations Codes may be incorrect because you didn't say if your getting a constant alarm |
Getting weak horn, horn probably bad. Sensors new. Will get temp gun check. Were hot to touch last ride. |
Hose cut out is #14 on diagram. |

Just to clear hoses # 6 and # 14 leaving only main supply line for water to the exhaust manifolds on starboard engine, the one running hot. Port engine has original hoses and connections running normal. Starboard engine at idle was running and risers were just warm to the touch. Engines temps are balanced and normal. |
