My 06' bottle was seeping from that spot. Cable clean area to remove any oil. 2 part marine epoxy. No more leaking.....

Nice repair above. I wound up with a new bottle and clocked the barb to the correct position while verifying the internal nut did not loosen. No leaks!

You got lucky repositioning the fitting. . A lot of times turning it compresses the plastic bottle and small cracks form in due time. If you turn the fitting where its loosens, then that chance of leaking can take place whenever. Engine heat and pressures within the bottle itself could cause leaks down the road. Time will tell and again you might just be fine. With that said -- I bet you will never order the wrong bottle again. We all have experienced something like this buying the wrong part over the years. .

Just saying, things like this sometimes are just best to go hit up local Merc dealer or buy from people up here who deal with boats everyday that are in the marine biz plus in the know about this stuff.

I would guess maybe ? -- some or possible many up here learned now the bottle comes in 3 different versions with 3 different part numbers since all this was posted. Hopefully it will help for ordering the gear lube bottles.
