Default EMI Exhaust Install

I’m in the process of install EMI Thunder exhaust on my ‘99 502 MPI and the manifold on the port side is hitting a large bracket that holds the power steering pump, oil filter and drive oil reservoir. The bracket also is an engine pick point.

From my quick research it looks like these brackets were installed on the 454/502 from ‘99-‘00. I bought the oil filter bracket kit from EMI, but it won’t eliminate the large bracket.. I tried calling the factory but did not get very far.

Anyone ran into this?

I had the same problem with my IMCO exhaust on my '01 502. Port side hit the filter. I ordered their oil filter relocation package and it solved the problem. It actually looks almost identical to the EMI package. Once I moved the oil filter, the manifolds fit perfectly. Also, installed IMCO manifolds on my old '97 454 mag. Had to find a new alt/ps bracket for mine. Don't know what yours looks like, but if like my old '97 (alternator and ps pump both mount to the bracket) the IMCO modded bracket gave the room to mount the manifold. Don't know if it will work on the EMI, but it might be worth a look.

The old bracket that serves as a mount for the oil filter, power steering pump, and lift point needs to be either replaced or modified. I just did this over winter and just cut up the old bracket and welded a new lift hook on.

Thanks, all.

Looks like the IMCO relocation kit is the ticket.

The bracket on mine actually cleared the manifolds as it is/was. It was the oil reservoir that was the problem. Once I mounted the IMCO bracket and raised the reservoir up, everything cleared on mine. By the way, not sure how yours is mounted, but my filter is mounted upside down. Good luck. PM me an email and I will send you you a pic of it.
