Hey,
To my understanding you cannot switch out the plastic for brass ,theses are new gimbals which use plastic fittings.
Merc has not changed the design, or the hole size for the lube bottle or transom assembly. Merc has just changed to a plastic piece of carp which breaks easy, but will last thru warranty, but is cheap and makes for a quicker install

Great to hear ,what tool did you use to get it out of there ?thanks again hate to remove the gimble ring if not necessary
