After spending all day hunched over a sand blaster I used a Harbor freight powder coating gun and a free oven to clean up all the rusty brackets. Time well spent in my book.
Still waiting for parts to arrive for the motor. I briefly flirted with the idea of building a 540 but more mature minds prevailed and ill use my stock crank.. I've got new rods,, inconel exhaust valves, SS intakes , water pumps , fuel system parts on the way

I'll top the oil off and see if that helps ....🙂
I dont know , the plugs were out of the motor so your guess is good as mine .
At this point its headed to the machinist this week and ill move forward unless its un-salvagable. I understand that rust never sleeps, at least it will be covered with oil ( I hope the inside of the motor is covered with oil )
