Listening to a motor will not tell if there would be reversion. SB is saying the cam that was installed can cause reversion
The original factory cam could be reinstalled without issue if the cam is in good shape |
It is not the factory motor that was in there I do not believe.. Let me try and touch base with the old owner
|
If it was a motor from a truck your still good
|
What else would I need besides that cam brother?
|
I found out that it was the original motor. I also found this about the engine I bought as well, if different than what was specified previously:

Do google search of following:
xm256H-12 offshoreonly.com |
SB, what you told me to copy and paste is the same cam that you posted on #26?
|
Exactly.
I did that so you can read various threads on the subject. example : Duration and overlap is nit just about sucking water back or not, it also determines rpm power range :thumbs |
Ahh okay I got ya bud.. I appreciate you guys so much for real.. I never meant anything bad towards you guys what so ever. I was just stuck in a bad spot and was my fault to listen to whom I did before and hear I am.. I’ve put a lot of time into this build, especially as my first one.. to fiberglass, engine, everything. It’s my fault, but have pushed hard at it and felt confident on what I was convinced of towards the engine. I know nothing about hands on engine work.. until now and honestly am excited to learn.. So hearing I had to restart, made me think I had to do something crazy to fix it all to get back on track.. I own a business and have to make my lady happy w my availability. Just hard to please everybody, including myself when things don’t go as expected for so long.. I’ve been working on it for almost a year now....

290 is ok... As your power is needed at low rpm 'not high rpm.

Update
I talked to the new engine builder finally and he said that it was a 112 or 114. He said that he knew what I was looking for and would not have advised differently. He said that it would be fine. Thoughts?

I bought a new engine and did not know if the cam and what was in it would work because it was a vehicle engine.
|
You bought another new engine ?
|
Haha no
|
I finally found out what cam was in the new engine that I was planning on putting into the boat

THe cam in the OP of this thread is 224*224*at .050” and 112 lsa. Says it right on the card. (107 icl and 117ecl = 112lsa)
So now you are saying it maybe 114 lsa? Did he give you the wrong cam sheet for the cam in your engine ? I’ saying following mattet of fact, not provokingly. I’m leaving this thread, too much going around in circles for me. I made recommendation and statements earlier. I will stick by them. |
Sorry... never meant to p you off at all bud.. I was only trying to make sure that things were for certain before having to change out the cam.. I wasn’t for sure if you were able to get what you needed from the sheet so just tried to get all info to make certain.
