I am getting rid of my Quicksilver 3000 Classic throttle/shifter control and replacing it with a Hardin Marine Stiletto. The 3000 uses the KM style cable so I have to switch to a 33 style. I got the cables, and the connector kit. It looks pretty straight forward but I am not sure how to properly adjust the new cable length and shift engagement. Anyone have a way that works good or instructions to do this? The throttle looks like it's gonna just take some trial to get WOT and stop points. Thanks for any help.

There is a bracket (usually on an exhaust riser) where the cable from the shift lever is connected to an arm that is connected to the cable that goes into the outdrive. Remove the cotter pin that locks the cable (the cable that goes up front to the shifter) and disconnect the front cable from the arm. Move the arm around until you are certain that the NEUTRAL DETENT on the outdrive is centered in neutral. Now. With the shift lever (up front) in neutral, start adjusting the cable until it matches up with the arm. Reattach the cable. Start the motor and slowly move the shift lever from neutral into fwd then back to neutral and into reverse several times. The Bravo should CLUNK into gear both directions well before the shifter has completed its full travel, and the drive should pull out of gear into neutral easily from both directions. I guess you know that if a Bravo stalls while in gear, it can be fairly difficult to pull it into neutral.

Pretty new to boating so I did not know about difficulty to go to neutral after stalling. Thanks for the setup info. I still cannot run my engine, due to work being done, but at least that gives me a starting point.

Just for info: you are not supposed to shift a bravo in gear without engine running so don’t test it like that.

I had a hard time getting one of mine into reverse without really slamming it from the dash. I replaced both shift cables a few years ago. adjusted them with this.
