MK IV Power Steering Pump Bracket?
Does anyone have pictures of the PS setup? Heck, pics of the entire belt setup would be REALLY helpful!
Built an engine for a restoration project and even with a ton of parts available to me, I can't find a workable solution that fits and am tired of banging my head on the wall. I have the Merc diagrams from that era, but... not very helpful. TIA |
Here is what mine looks like, minus the P/S belt. The P/S belt goes from the crank outer grove to the recirculating pump outer grove to the P/S pump.
I should be at the boat tomorrow and I can give you a picture of all of them and the P/S belt number. Hope this helps. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b1eb32517a.jpg |
It's just the power steering/alternator bracket. I have used it on MKIV, Gen V and VI with a 3 groove pulley.
Hope this helps. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b5af82cbc4.jpg |
I have that bracket, but.... it won't fit with the exhaust manifolds that I have (water port on the front).
I have an "oddball" bracket that I found (have TONS of parts available to me; family boat yard), but it sat too far out front for a two groove pully. Guess I need a new pully. At least that is an easy fix! This bracket puts the PS pump on the stbd side. Trying to solve a bigger problem now; where did the water in the oil come from.... #$@$#$%. Fresh build, MLS head gaskets, so I "think" I can rule out the head gaskets. Pulling the pressure tester out tonight. Thanks! |
GlenAmy, any chance you know the part numbers for the two hoses from the circulating pump? I have the same thermostat housing and the standard hose is too short.
|
So YOU CAN SEE i HAVE USED 2 HOSES and coupled them with a stainless steel coupler to make it the correct length. I also am told that the hose is the same for a 500 hp. I don't know bit I know this works.
|
PS. I have a 3 grove pully if you need it.
