Curious: why cant HT502 be marine?
Shopping around for some torquey BBCs and came across a good price on a new GM HT502s. Searched the googles and they say they are "not for marine" us cases.
Why?
Forged internals, 8.75:1 compression, roller, 500-550ft lbs trq at 2500-4800. Seems like we could change freeze plugs, add closed cooling heat exchangers, and run em with EFI or carbs for a cruiser that will never see 5000 rpm. What am I missing?

You can absolutely use it for marine use but don't expect a warranty or support if anything we're to happen
There was a similar thread if you want to read up what the conclusion was: HT 502 marine application?

rebate??? I saw it on jegs. summit, and some random other site plus ebay. might be perfect for my tank of a vessel and I can always keep my Weiand 177s and bolt them on later LOL! Even at low rpm the 177s would add some torque..maybe get her to 625 ft lbs ;-0

Dont want to reuse my existing wiring harnesses so would need to find a set of those. Otherwise, would go new alts, water pumps, and starters, existing closed cooling, Gills with O2 sensor wedges, and fuel pumps and oil coolers. Could re-use blowers/carbs or go Sniper EFI and sell blowers/carbs. This could work for the old girl.

Call and see if they have those HO’s. I thought those have been unavailable for a while now.
