We move in fuel injection and putting on a carburetor what do I have to do with the d
Okay my body has a 502 he wants to take the fuel injection off put a carburetor on but it doesn't know what to do with the distributor because it's got six wires and is not sure if you can get a module for or does he have to replace the distributor?
|
A bunch of us have done it. You can keep the EST distributors with the stock module in it.
Here is one of many threads. Make sure to read last page. https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...i-502-a-2.html |
Thank you for the reply I read that I'm sending this to my buddy he'll be happy

Is he also ditching his smart phone and going back to a beeper?

Shhhiiiittt.. efi to the curb, carburetors make that big hp!!

Nothing wrong with a well tuned carb. Programmable digital ignition and wide band O2 give new life to carbs.
Bonus benefits by adding a TPS to the carb. |
1970`s called they want their tech back.

Different strokes for different folks.
Like everything else, there are some exceptions…. That said, in many applications I’m fine with both. Most carburetor issues i can have back on the water in a few hrs. |
Holley style perf carbs have come a long way since the 70s. They are highly tunable and reliable.

I’ve yet to see a carburetor that delivers truly consistent AFRs. I’ve spent far too much time trying to dial in a proper fuel curve, and it never gets there.
To keep the engine from dying during shifts, you end up running them much richer than ideal. Once the power valve opens, it turns into a un-metered fuel dump. There’s no IAC to stabilize things during transitions, runs rich as pig to keep a blower motor running. .. In my opinion, running carbs on a blower motor just doesn’t make sense. I’m not a fan of washing down cylinders at idle just to keep the engine running through shifts. NA motor, maybe it`s different. |
