A little play in the outdrive still

1990 bravo 1 outdrive, had the transom assembly replace back in July ‘24 with an SEI. Decided to replace the entire transom assembly because of the play in it, it was from the steering pin being bent. It would lean to port when I would drive, pretty badly at that and now although not as bad, the lean is still there. In this video I’m both trying to move the outdrive and tape, so bear with me. It looks like the bolt on the front of the tiller arm is worn, shouldn’t that be an easy fix? Does it look like that’s the issue or maybe a worn tiller arm?

Hi, your video link does not work… at least it did not for me. So I’m an unsure where you are seeing the play or slop in the drive.
Question, when you replaced transom assembly from SEI, it included a new gimbal ring and upper swival shaft and new upper tiller arm?
If it had all those new parts, then yes I would say you did not secure the “tiller arm” bolt around the upper swival shaft well enough.
if you reused the tiller arm, then that in combination to not being tight enough is a good source of problem.
those are my thoughts so far.

Not sure what my issue was….. but I got the video to work.
if the drive is not moving when you make that movement….. your tiller arm is an issue. If this has been going on for a while, the flats on the upper swival shaft could be worn as well.
To fix either of them, you still need to lower the swival shaft so you will have good visibility to inspect when replacing that tiller arm.

What is inducing the movement? Are you wiggling the drive from the outside or are you sawing back and forth on the wheel? Do you have any up/down play in the gimbal pin?
Thanks. Brad.
