Default X 18 Handling characteristics? Max Hull speed?

Hi All,

Does the X18 have an handling issues like porpoising or anything else that may make it a handful?

What is the max hull speed for this boat w built SBC and TRS?
(estimates are acceptable)
I saw one post of 84 mph w Arne drive on the registry, but I can't get on there right now.

I'm thinking about 500-600 hp 7400 RPM and wondering if this boat could handle mid 90 mphs, and at what speed does it start chine walking, (and how bad does it get) in flat water?

Thanks
Evan

You need to talk to Geo, on the Donzi.net site. He's the guy with the Arneson boat. He knows more about making that boat crazy-fast than anyone on the planet!

Geoo went past 84 about 5 years ago with his X18, I think the number being shot around is 120+ now......
Drop by the registry, you'll get some answers there.

All boat's do at high speeds.
You need to set-up the boat correctly. Testing different props, adding tabs, moving cg in boat etc.

What is the max hull speed for this boat w built SBC and TRS?
estimate: 600hp with TRS will go high 80's low 90's.

Every boat is different. Set up properly sky's the limit. But every thing happens a heck of a lot faster at high speeds.
Most Boat's can run higher speed's more safely with more power. To go 70 with 400hp you would have to fly the boat on the edge, have her all trimed up. Now if you had 600hp you could run 70 with the hull wet and level, not trimmed way out.

Evan,

It's all about setup!!!!
460hp is getting me 77mph on GPS

It would be wise to purchase these
1. Tabs
2. External Steering

These boats are on the edge above 70
Please be very very careful!!

The TRS is going to implode at those RPM's.. If the tranny lasts that long...
