She runs like a raped ape since Ron Potter built the 575's up to 700's!
What kind of speeds with the stronger motors?

Only maxed it a couple times, 110+ I would say regularly, 115 in perfect conditions and got this on a fluke with low fuel and cool weather and maybe a slight blip in the GPS:

Hey Tom,

Those are awesome numbers. I have the stock 600SCI's in my boat and touch 95. I talked to Dustiin Whipple about his stage one upgrades that would give me 700hp a side and probably put me over 100mph. It's very tempting but I'm concerned about my drives. I have XR Shorties and get about 100 hrs out of them now. What are you running and what has your experience been.

Thanks, Mark

Xr's......
Blew a couple already, I switched to the Synthetic race lube and made it through all last year. I am upgrading to the Imco SCX's for this year. I hear they hold up well to about 900hp. Fingers crossed
If you go up to 700hp its not a matter of if they will hold, it is just a question of when will they blow.

Below is what happened in Miami last Feb..... running 60mph. Interesting thing Craig Barrie told me was that it was most likely due to me following in the bubble trails too long and the drive not getting enough water flow to cool it. (I was following a big group through Biscayne for quite a few miles.) I would have never thought about it but he said the water in Florida holds air a lot longer than up north where it is denser. After he told me this, I did notice that the bubble trails are 10 times longer in Fla. photos vs. NJ pics.

I blew both last spring, I was cruising along about 60 when this one went but I was in cold fresh water (Lake St Clair). I heard the IMCO uppers hold up real well. Good Luck

Tufaro,

My old boat was a 525 ZR. I had XR's and ran hering 5 blade props. I never blew a drive but completely wore them out at 200 hrs. clutches started to slip and when they tore down everything was worn but never broke underway.I did not baby the boat. Maybe just lucky?) 600SCI have way more torque and I think thats the main difference.
