When we change the oil on boats we put an soft oil absorber sheet under the filter to catch all the spoooge.. Also popping a little air relief hole in the filer to allow it to drain back can help. It allows more of the oil to get drawn out with the suction tool or drain hose, because it allows more of it to flow back down into the engine.. This only applies to the engines with the "upside down" filters mounted higher than the oil filter boss & cooler on the engine..

If all else fails use soap, water & polish.. lol..

I think the first way I mentioned works very well.. Ask Ed (undertaker) how clean his boat is when he picks his boat up from us after its services.. Jamie / Lakeside
