Default What to buy

Hi all

Have been looking on the threads!

I have an Allison XB 2003 with a PM 225 of the back.
Love the boat
But it dosen't give the wind protection i'm looking for.(the wife says so).

The 22 Classic comes to mind, but it seems smallish in the windshield department.
Next up 28zx, a much bigger boat(more wife friendly).

What i'm really looking for is a good looking v bottom, packing v8 power, wind protection and rough water capabelity(not offshore). Don't really need the cabin, but it could be a bonus.

Like Donzi, but dosen't have to be!
Any input?

Regards Morten

Buy a 22. I have not run offshore but have run hard in a huge poker run scenareo(snotty washing machine conditions). I know others have also, it will take it!

The 22 will crush most boats in its "class" in the rough!

I have my 22 for the same reasons you listed...........

v bottom, packing v8 power, wind protection and rough water capabelity(not offshore). Don't really need the cabin.

I have an absolute blast with mine!

I would recommend either a 22 classic or 26ZX to 28ZX. If you want wind protection and a boat for riding in bigger seas the ZX will be the way to go. I have a 27ZX non-step that is a wave crusher for its size. If you are looking for more of a wild ride that you have with the Allison then go for the classic. I have a X-18. It is a hoot but smaller than what you are needing.

The 27ZR is supposed to be a great boat but I have not driven that one.

I loved my 22 Classic it ran awesome in all types of water. I never really off-shored w/ it but on the bays it took everything you could throw at it. It is a drivers boat and requires a lot of imput (narrow 7' beam).
I had a Vortec supercharged 454efi mag and saw 80+mph.
If you want something a little more substantial the 26zx is a nice boat. My friend Frank is selling his in the classifieds for a great deal w/ a fresh supercharged motor. I have seen that boat run close to 80.

I don't want to highjack the thread..... but you should bring your X-18 to the Annual Awakening of the Horses(AOTH) at lake Cumberland this year. We are honoring the X-18 this year! My father will have his X-18 Berkely jet there!

Yes, definitely look into the 22ZX, I love mine and you will have some cabin space.

Definately, that and the rocket ship I am building. I would love to see the Berkely X-18. Mine is a resto mod using a 383 mag/Bravo 1

Yes, the 22ZX is also a nice boat!

Thanks.

I'v been eyeballing your friends boat, Tom.... Seems like the package, if not the blown 22 classic down in Texas(boattrader).

Have been looking on the 22 zx also.
Don't want to offend anybody, but the swivelchairs gives it kind of af, I don't know, a Sea Ray look.Have only seen the boats on the net, never live!(I could be wrong)

Am planning a go-to-get-a-boat-trip right now!
Me beeing from Denmark, kind of forces me to go, where the boat concentration is greatest - Florida!

A lot of boating seems to be going on in the Sarasota area!
