On my stock 575's the boat ran 98 mph. Most 525 Comps run low 90's. They are seeing roughly the same speeds as the Gladiators. The race boats have touched on 100 mph with 525s.

In my case, with STOCK 575's, we only run 95 on a great day, but I boat with 4 to 5 people and 200 plus gallons of fuel at all times. One of my regular passangers is 315 lbs dry....We also boat on Lake Michigan which is 900 feet of elevation, and fresh water. Sure the fuel lightens up later in the day, but as the fuel gauges approach a 1/2 a tank, we are headed in. A cabin version will not even remotely touch that. Again, the acceleration is night and day. Not measured in boat lengths, but rather in 1/4 miles over distance.
For the record, Tom A's 575's are hopped up, and he is north of 625hp per side. In that example, for cheap money, look at the difference in speed. 575's will produce 625 hp each for as little as $1000 per motor. Arizona Speed comes to mind. |
When the motors were at 625, the boat saw 102. For the record.
I never ran the boat with the 575's stock, that number was from Gene Weeks. They are now at 700 and we have seen over 110. Saltwater and elevation will make the 3 mph difference between the stock 575's. I am north of 315 lbs myself......:drink: With the motors at 625, I could run with the 700 cabin Zr's! |
Thanks for the info.
Do you guys know anything about this boat? http://www.yachtauctions.com/detail.asp?stockNo=18516 |

Survey, Survey, Survey on any boat and specically the Comps. They are probably the the best V-bottom out there BUT as Customryder said there are a few with major histories and some of the race boats were run hard and also had lighter layups. There were a quite a few done in the white and red paint schemes, all with subtle differences. I know at least two had red bottoms, one of which was the Virginia fatality boat. I know there was a west coast boat that got heat damage but don't know which one. The red Ferrari boat as far as I know, the original owner sold it and the new owner defaulted on the payments.
