What kind of speeds are you seeing with the 525"s?

dreamer 09-14-2008 01:31 PM

90mph

lonestar382 09-15-2008 12:24 PM

I've been looking at ZRC's for a couple months now, and there are some great deals to be had right now. I have an interest in the ex-audacity race boat for around 100k. I know that this particular boat was given massive detail from Donzi to make the hull as fast as possible, and I believe it is running at or over 100 on sealed 525's. My only concern, is it is still a retired raceboat.

I'm also interested in the 03' Powerboat Mag test boat. It is pricey considering todays market, so I'm hoping there is some considerable nego. room if they trully want to sell.

I saw the question on this particular boat at Eliminator as to if it got hot. I would like to know some details on this if available.

Thanks
Corey

I would have thought the boat would have run a little better than that since the ZR's run the same? Please educate me a little.

Corey

ZR's with cabins do not seem to run 90 mph with 525's, other than at the bar...LOL!!!! If they break 86 to 87 mph, that is light on everything, and it takes quite a while. The best part about a Comp, is the acceleration. The ZRC will "park" the home owner version. :evilb:

What power do you have in your ZRC and what will she run?

Tom A. 09-19-2008 11:19 AM

On my stock 575's the boat ran 98 mph. Most 525 Comps run low 90's. They are seeing roughly the same speeds as the Gladiators. The race boats have touched on 100 mph with 525s.

organizedchaos 09-19-2008 09:36 PM

In my case, with STOCK 575's, we only run 95 on a great day, but I boat with 4 to 5 people and 200 plus gallons of fuel at all times. One of my regular passangers is 315 lbs dry....We also boat on Lake Michigan which is 900 feet of elevation, and fresh water. Sure the fuel lightens up later in the day, but as the fuel gauges approach a 1/2 a tank, we are headed in. A cabin version will not even remotely touch that. Again, the acceleration is night and day. Not measured in boat lengths, but rather in 1/4 miles over distance.

For the record, Tom A's 575's are hopped up, and he is north of 625hp per side. In that example, for cheap money, look at the difference in speed. 575's will produce 625 hp each for as little as $1000 per motor. Arizona Speed comes to mind.

Tom A. 09-19-2008 11:55 PM

When the motors were at 625, the boat saw 102. For the record.
I never ran the boat with the 575's stock, that number was from Gene Weeks.
They are now at 700 and we have seen over 110.
Saltwater and elevation will make the 3 mph difference between the stock 575's.
I am north of 315 lbs myself......:drink:

With the motors at 625, I could run with the 700 cabin Zr's!

Marginmn 09-20-2008 10:55 AM

Thanks for the info.

Do you guys know anything about this boat?

Tom A. 09-22-2008 12:25 PM

Survey, Survey, Survey on any boat and specically the Comps. They are probably the the best V-bottom out there BUT as Customryder said there are a few with major histories and some of the race boats were run hard and also had lighter layups. There were a quite a few done in the white and red paint schemes, all with subtle differences. I know at least two had red bottoms, one of which was the Virginia fatality boat. I know there was a west coast boat that got heat damage but don't know which one. The red Ferrari boat as far as I know, the original owner sold it and the new owner defaulted on the payments.

That boat was originally red bottom/white top. The 1st owner was a good friend of Jeffery Cheng (who started OSO on the WC); and they are/were in the Ferrari circle together. He took the boat to the "Ferrari look-alike" level by painting it all red, and swapping out the gauges to yellow. I saw it Havasu several years ago, and it is STUNNING. I do remember some jealous jackass had leaned up against it with jeans and scratched the side while it was slipped overnight at Havasu. I don't think the original owner used it much, he just liked having it.

Marginmn 10-06-2008 10:41 PM

Thanks a bunch. Do you know if the engines are stock or did they do the pully and ecu upgrade to them?

Any idea how it performed?

TOTAL assumption here, but its my impression the boat was more of a Lover and not a Fighter.

You might see if Schweeeng or Jeffrey know more about it. You ought to be able to ping both of them.

Did the Ferrari ZRC have tan interior at one time? Always thought that was a classy make over.. Saw the Orange ZRC that Craig had at Loto--- I'm hooked

I don't believe the above boat ever had tan seats; pretty sure it was built with red seats and later received the silver. The red ZRC with tan seats and twin 700s on the Donzi website came that way from the factory. There's a third red comp out there, too - with Teague engines. This boat came from Donzi with a custom orange flame paint job and yellow seats - it's since been redone as a solid-red boat with tan upholstery.

Don't forget that my red one (used to be orange flame) with Teague 800's is also a #6 boat and will run 118.

I would appreciate it if you could clarify a concern of mine. Several members on this board have raised the prospect that this particular boat sustained damaged in a fire. Since you are representing the seller I put the question to you: Has this boat ever been involved in a fire?

If so, what happened; what was damaged; and who did the repairs?

If they are mistaken then here is your chance to offically put that rumor to rest and ease any concern over that matter.

The owner wants it gone and we want an answer to the question that has been put to you many times on this thread: "Was that boat involved in a fire?"

You are asking the good people on this site to lay out over $100K to purchase your friends boat yet you won't answer a question that drastically impacts the value of the boat. . Unfreaking believable!

I thought 'others' would respond to this...:angry-smiley-044:

Yea it does look like a nice boat. Considering that the question about it having been in a fire was first put to them back in Aug - and it is now April - and they still havent answered, I can only guess that they really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really (9 months of really's) don't want to answer that question.

It amazes me that people think his boat was involved in a fire and yet the owner doesnt step up and set the record straight . It would seem that he's screwing himself or trying to screw someone else.

RunninHotRacing163.1 04-08-2009 07:32 AM

Very good point Marginmn it would of worked great for a spare/back up boat but that same question SQUASHED the deal last year ... not like how many hours on the drives or motors but a Serious fire question but they will snag someone .good luck on the sale

Schweeng 04-08-2009 11:55 AM

As I have heard the story..
The boat was parked next to a structure that caught on fire and the heat from the fire damaged the rear quarter of the boat.

dreamer 04-08-2009 06:58 PM

thank you.... crossing off my list and glad not to waste more money on a survey
