Question Fuel Smell In Cabin When Filling Tank

Ijust bought a 04 38 zx W/ 525'S when i filled the tank (over filled came out the overflow) but still ran it for an hour or so after then docked it. I had a strong smell of gas in the cabin. Checked all the hoses and vents and what i could see there was no leaks. Opened the hatch and found some gas in the bilge not a lot but still cant find where it came from.I have put gas in before and never had an issue but never filled that much. any ideas? or problem spots? thanks

A good place to check would be the fuel sending unit...if the gasget is finished or the screws are not in it properly / stripped or broken the sending unit wont seal on the tank and the result is fuel spashing out from around the sending unit.
Good luck.
