Default 28zx

Have a buddy who is interested in the 28zx's. What is the opinion on better engine package for the boat; twin sbc's or single bbc? Just wondering about balance.

Did they make a 25zx or zr? Cant seem to find any of those.

Mine had twin 350 Mags, I liked havine the twins at LOTO, much better docking and you have a back up, Had a water pump go when we were about 20 miles from home, took a while but we got back on 1 motor. The balance seemed good to me it would run 70 with the 350 mags

they made a 26ZX which is basically a shorter 28ZX.

I have twin 6.2 MPI's in my 28 ZXO. It runs great with them.

I'd do twin 350 Mag MPI or 6.2's. The 377 Scorpions were available. Faster, but not easy to upgrade.

The ole single vs twin debate. If you want a general run about setup, the twins are a good setup. If you want to go fast, it is easier to do it with a single. The boat balances fine either way. Twins would be a little better in rough water.

They only tricky thing about my single around the dock is that I spin a 32" prop so it is a little fast and jumpy. I back into all sorts of slips without problems.

I love the twins.......love that harmonizing sound they make when up on plane. Docking is nice with twins, handling is great. Not sure what the resale value is on twins versus a single in the 28zx, but after having twins, I don't want to go back to a single.

Donzi did make a 25zx in '95 and '96, but I don't believe it was a stepped hull. single screw only, no twins.

You will get better resale with twins. They make a great reliable package.

I am partial to big singles but that is another story.

Busted!

Yes, proper smackdowns and ass showings are a must. Twin BB's and #6's on the other hand......while they are usually surprised to see me running with them, they can usually administer a proper beating to me when it comes time to show their whole hand.

I came very close to joining the land of the important people last year. That is when I decided to buy something with 3 staterooms and enough life jackets to take 48 people for boat ride.
