My Livorsi GPS quit after 18 months from new. Livorsi wants me to remove the whole thing and send it back for installation of a new battery at about $180. Sounds weird to have to go through such a complicated adventure to replace a battery. After sniffing around, I find a number of owners of Donzi's and other brands with dead Livorsi GPS's. Anybody have any wisdom on this subject that would help, or do I just need to bite the bullet and tear it out and send it to them. On start-up, (switch on), the gauge goes up to 90 MPH, then down to 30 MPH, then down to 0 MPH, so it looks like it's going to work, but not - just sits at zero. Periodically while underway it works itself up to about what would be 10 MPH, then drops back to zero. I've checked the connections at the gauge, but not at the antenna, cause I can't find it - easily. I'm told its behind the cabin entry grab rail on my 2008 35 ZR. Any ideas would be appreciated. Brian, normally when the antenna battery goes bad the needle cycles through at startup, then returns to the 9 oclock position and doesnt move. Seems like hundreds of people have had problems with the antenna battery on Livorsi's on this site, try and see if you can just wire the speedo to your gps, takes care of the battery problem. If I remember right, I did a search on here for Livorsi and found the thread that tells you how to do it, ill try and find it again and put a link on here for you.

I changed mine this summer, you won't be able to reach the antenna from the tach hole. You have to remove the rounded head linner over the cabin door to access the antenna. The antenna is glued on to plywood with with 5200, so you will need some 5200 to install the new one. I bought a new antenns and if you have the three ring terminals on the old one all you have to do is replace. I had the white molex plug on mine, so I cut the plug off and soldered onto the new antenna in place of the ring terminals. I also found the it was a waste of time to chase the antenna wire through the wire loop. I think they ran wire throughout the entire boat. Just cut the antenna and plug off and the leave the wire in place. I actually bought my new antenna through donzi on ebay. That saved me about 75 bucks.

I'm probably rehashing old stuff here, but am very thankful for my OSO friends because:
1. My Livorsi GPS Speedo quit after 18 months from new - due to a dead battery in the antenna.
2. Funny how they forgot to tell me when I bought the boat "hey all ya gotta do is remove the entire speedo system every couple years and send it off for a battery replacement at around $200". Can you imagine how the public would handle that in the car world? Boaters put up with an amazing amount of bad products, bad service, blah, blah, blah, blah, but now on to the good part.
3. With the great help of OSO technical freaks above, Fred at Livorsi, and Bonnie at Lowrance, I simply cut the Livorsi antenna wire, and hooked it to my Lowrance antenna. So, now my Lowrance antenna is sending satelite signal to my Lowrance and my Livorsi - yayyyyyy - and it cost nothing but 30 minutes of time.
I am so happy !!! Thanks to all of you at OSO for posting!!!

The Livorsi GPS is a really cheap unit at manufacturer cost. Livorsi obviously dropped the ball when they selected that unit... instead of making things right they bend us all over again.
This is the very definition of a crappy company.
