22 classic
hi,any owners who can help with a few quick questions to aid a potential purchase?
1.never been up close and personal with one-whats under the front? 2.with the 496ho what will they run real world gps? 3.are they just for the lake or can they handle open water with nasty chop/swell? thanks in advance. |
Drive it, if possible. My cammed up 454 mag ran 68 gps.

I had an 06 22 Shelby...It ran 77 with a 496 HO...It ran Awesome in the small stuff...Doubt that it would run real good in big stuff..Im sure it would be a challenge in the big stuff..3-4 ft..

My 18C ran great in 4ft+ seas...I guess it is just what one is use to......there are not many boats out there in the size range with similar power that would stand up to a Donzi IMO.......
They take some time and skill to drive but fun as hell when you get it down pat.... |
Shelbys have a raised X. This boat should run 73. You might squeeze 75 out of it in perfect conditions. Of course a bit higher if on salt water. I run mine in rough on the Great Lakes all the time.

I realize that...but there are options....
Thought I would introduce the faster competition... Choices are good.... |
thanks guys, all answered apart from whats up front under the bow?is it a carpeted storage space-full width or just a centre tunnel bit for ski's?thanks
|
Faster hull designs are usually not as good in the rough as a true deep vee. Mine runs 83-85 with a 525 EFI. I can crush 2-3 footers. 4 footers are harder. Storage in the Donzi is minimal with a ridiculous little storage bin up front that doesn't even hold a ski. I customized mine and opened up the front for ample storage and room to sleep on occasion.

thanks all,now all answered!!
|
Yea, You cant go wrong with the boat .... I've had mine for seven years, cant think of another boat in its size that I'd want .... Cant tear the thing up on the water, you'll give before the boat will .... Not much for storage, just drive around make noise and have fun ...... Told myself I'd be out of the boat in three years when I bought it, still in with no end in sight now ......

Had an old 1989 22 Classic with a 509 aluminum head motor. Boat ran 78 to 80 with a bravo and a 27 Pitch mirage 3 blade. REALLY fun boat. 2 footers are sooo fun. 3 footers and up...hold onto your hat! Boat can take it, but you cant. Great boat for its size. :drink:
