Default 38zx vacuum head smells from vent ?? Filter

01 zx smells when ever the vacuum pump runs. It's there after I drain the tank. Any input would be great. I can't take a piss at the marina without everyone leaving due to the smell. Is there a filter on the vent line?

There is usually an activated carbon filter installed in the vent line. You can buy them at West Marine or you can just repair yours (if it has one) with aquarium stuff. Try following the vent from the outside to see if you can locate yours. It is quite simply a section of PVC with hose looking fittings on each side. If you don't find one, it would be pretty easy to install one in your vent line. The carbon usually lasts several years. To replace the carbon, you have to cut the filter in half. You repair it with eather a piece of flexible hose and hose clamps or a pvc coupling with glue.
