Default True real speeds of 38 zr

I have read many different articles on the 38 zr and diff motor packages that it was avail with. The top speed numbers in all of the articles seem to be inflated by approx 5 mph. In my opinion from my research, and what my 38zr 525 package runs. I am getting about 85 mph when I hit rev limit with my 30 pitch herrings at 5400 rpm. The average most articles claim is a 525 38zr should be right around 90 with 32 pitch props. I feel I would have a hard time getting on plane with 32 pitch props. What is the true real world numbers of the top speeds of the 38 zr. Top speed of the 525 how much faster for the 600 package and the 700 package. Curious to see what you guys have actually seen and achieved and what prop and motor package. Thanks for info and the conversation.

That sounds about right to me...I have a 35 ZR with 496s and I'm right at 78-80 so far. Add the weight and the extra power, 85 sounds right in the ball park.

BTW, Cumberland is at 700 feet and we had 5 adults in the boat. So if you are running at sea level on a cold day with light load I could see the same boat running 88 or even better.

I am at sea level in south Louisiana. It is hot and humid which affects power and speed. Two men and my 13 year old son 3/4 fuel hit rev limit. Didn't easily hit rev limit. Once I hit limit I slightly trimmed down gained .5 mph and almost hit rev again.

The question is how do the articles about this boat claim 90 to 92 mph. They are claiming a 32 pitch.

Would a 600 boat even hit 92 mph. Does anyone have experience with a 600 package for comparison.

Totally agree with Marginmn, most of these boats could have been dialed in for speed; tested on saltwater, 1/4 tank of gas, cool morning, 1 man crew, and taken 15 minutes to get on plane...its just hard to tell. I always knock 5 off the top speed posted because when do you ever run your boat by yourself, on a calm ocean with 10 minutes of gas...

I had a 2009 with 525s and it had 88MPH as tested by the factory on it. I ran it in fresh water, 1000 feet altitude and trimmed right would hit exactly 88mph. no currents in the lake

I got the same speed from factory supplied 15.25 Mercury 33 pitch labbed maximus props and 15.5 x 33 pitch hering 5 bade props.

How long did it take your boat to plane with 33 pitch props
