just as a point of info, i had a 328 race skater (which is now on lake cumberlands website) with 2.5s , and while it had better acceleration (60-100 mph) than the doug wrights, the max I saw out of it was 108mph. great boat in the rough though

PUT ME IN COACH!!!!!! I have been a DW supporter since I met him in NYC with GB. I know some history on DW that is really sweet knowledge to me. More to do with what he was doing before he was building boats. Let's just say I had a few of his designs before the boats even came into play.
I became an even bigger supporter when I got to crawl inside one of his masterpieces and to date my favorite boat that he has built. That boat being DL's LOAN SHARK. in race trim and in pleasure trim. By far the BEST outboard powered cats on the water. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I hope that I will need a navigator on that Bimini race. You in? |
Sarasota was 3ft this week-end. Too much fun to run in unfortunately no one was out in the gulf but me.
I will be in Key West for sure. Its up in the air currently if LS will make the trip. This will be a great event. |

speed update
Speed update for LS
82 degrees outside. 81 water temp. 113mph @ 6,300 stb and 6270port with 35lbs water pressure and 45 gallons of fuel. stock 15/34 cleavers bblades standard thickness with trailing edge work. Next stop will be bblades for some 36's. I believe that the boat will see over 118 again. We will have to wait for the next update as I am taking the boat in for a re-rig and some updating on the interior. Dan |

The best mine has ever gone so far it 102.1 with 2 pob and 40 gallons of fuel. It consistantly runs right around 100 with 2-3 pob, 40-60 gal. Thats with 15x32 and I do not make the rpm you make. At this point, I am just enjoying the boat. I may do some more setup and dial-in work next spring. Lots of tech specs, real world data at http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...=149139&page=8 |
07' 300xs I am told that most people are having touble finding the power with these motors. Certainly the low rpm's sucks.
I am very confident that my boat will see great speeds once I get the new props from brett. set-up is everything. With the wrong heights and tow my boat will barely touch 100. You may have a balance issue remember the less running surface in the water the greater the speed. I would try additional set back. bolt on a 2.5" spacer and try that. But hey 100 is still great. |

very low slip.
2:1 gear ratio 31's 112mph 8200 race set up The doug wright slip goes way down when the boat gets over 105 plus. The hull design takes over. also slip goes down with the higher rpm's. |
Miccosukee Doug Wright

That is an older 32'. I believe that is Dale Crighton's old 32 DW that was rigged at Grant's Custom Marine. This is the 38 from Biloxi. The only 38 built right now for Cate Lite.

I stand corrected. Your right...we had dePoo's 32' on Dale's trailer for alittle while.
|
I stand corrected as well. i knew the boat was originally built for Dale but did not know it had changed hands. Only going on what was told to me from good sources. I may make a few mistakes from time to time but I try to stay up on this stuff. If I could have a dollar for all the useless boating and boat racing info in my head I would own my own DW already.

Hey skaterdave hows that 32 running?

As an owner of a 2007 30 Skater with T/300xs, I do not believe the above is an entirely accurate statement. I would very much like to speak with those reporting 106-108 to see what the conditions were (# pob and fuel level). While that is achievable in a very controlled test, (20 gal of fuel in boat, 1 pob) I do not think that represents real-world use and speeds. I would realy like to know what others are seeing in speeds with several pob and enough fuel to actually go somewhere.
I will post detailed data next week in my skater thread, and put a link to it from here. Web:www.dkorinc.homestead.com Office:941-697-0200 |
yes i was also there for this.... that boat moved pretty good...

actually these figures are real world figures. DPT Motorsports was onboard with me when this was done. i had between 60-80 gallons of fuel on board. it was in april of 06 in toms river NJ. was a 60 degree day with approx a 1ft chop and we actually ran outta water due to the end of the river. full of fuel 150-160 gallons and 2 people she ran 100-102 everyday all. previous best was 104 half full of fuel and 3 peeps on board in similar water.
How do the DW's run with weight in the boat? How much fuel do you carry for a race? |
i was running 15x32 3 blade labbed cleavers...cruisng at 80 mph i was spinning 49-5000 rpms...was everything was right i was tapping the limiters at 107
