arneson??

glassdave, the story is that i was in line to get the 4th dw. dale, i don't know his last name, was in line to get the #3 boat and was going to put arnesons on it. he saw the 38' dw project and decided he wanted a 38 instead of the 32'.this boat was already being built and to put the arnesons on the dw doug had to fill in the transom notch for them to fit. and when dale decided on the 38 that moved me up to the #3 spot and i got that boat. i already had a set of #6's for my project. before the dw i had a 28 and 32 b model skaters with o/b. both boats were great but the dw is like a mini supercat compared to the o/bs. i really don't like the steering type arnie's so if was going to go that route it would be a single rudder setup. but for resale everyone knows the merc 6s so i stayed with what i had.

nascat didn't mean to be jumpy, but i meet alot of people and quite a few, instead of asking me about the boat tell me about the boat. i've spent about 2 yrs changing things and trying setups to get her running this good. so i get alittle offended when other peolpe tell me how or what should be done to my boat, or that to find out info about my boat they should call anyone other than me or Doug Wright who actually built it.

cool, got it. I see your point on the sixes, resale has to be considered. Like i said in another post i have had this 32DW in my head with Arnesons, a rudder and something like Raylars 550 LSM smallblocks. The only other drawback is it doesn't really fit in any other race class other than P class. Would be nice to have a super-mini-cat-lite-extreme class :D. Make one hell of a fun boat though, as i'm sure yours is.

racing

i wish that all the racing bodies could come together and limit the classes and consolidate more boats into less classes. i was just talking to someone that use to race modified class back in the day in a 32classic style skater. just think about a class 30 to 35' cat and just an open class limited to 850 or 1000 hp total. make for alot more side by side racing. i think the merc only classes are only hurting things i can build a hell of a set of small blocks for half the cost of 525 mercs. i would like to see the 750 cats make some engine mods and let them race with the cat 850sc merc class. i have a feeling that wouldn't go over big for the merc guys!

Dale Crighton is the customer that had your slot. Then as ususal they were setting around discussing what would be cool and one thing led to another and Dale had Doug build the 38'.
