You looking to race it or as a pleasure boat.

How tall are those seats? It looks like the back seat passengers will whack the side of their heads on the edge of the cutout every time you hit a wave.

Stecz,

I followed this boat for awhile when it was for sale last time. Last year I was hot & heavy for a DW, met w/ Doug & his son, Troy Hannon & spoke to Grant from Grants Rigging.

My understanding is that this particular boat was built as an outboard boat then converted to an inboard boat. I believe the fuel tanks are on the small side & the CG may not be optimum for an inboard boat. Any of the above mentioned people will shoot you straight I'm sure.

Your best shot at getting a Doug Wright that you can boat w/ this year would be the Silver one w/ no power & #6's. Scott Shogren can hook you up if you are interested. Tell em I referred you.

Just one man's $.02!

first off, i own this boat and it was originally going to get arneson's. i'm the originally owner form day one and this boat was never setup with o/b. as always peolpe like nascat and others wanna form opions with actually seeing the boat run. the silver boat is an chop top version that was nevered finished. dw has the most info on this boat since we've keep in contact since i bought it. troy hannon had nothing to do with project and grant did the original riggin which was ok except for his in-experience dealing with inboards inwhich we had a some problems that another rigger had to resolve.
well i guess you could ask troy hannon about he did see it run first hand in maimi race!!

SD,

As I posted "it was my understanding" based on conversations w/ the manufacturer & those that rig DW's for a living. If everything I posted is inaccurate then say so & I'll delete it. I have nothing to loose or gain but I will say I did tons of homework on the DW pleasure versions including visiting the manufacturers & riggers so I have no reason to fabricate stories about your boat. Just sharing what was shared w/ me. What more can I say than to suggest they contact the source rather than take my input as gospel.

CHILL OUT!

dw

fuel tanks- don't know where else they could go in an in/bd boat. as for cg we had to move somethings backward and added extension boxes. we also changed the bottom running surface, which is basically what doug's done on the last 2 32 ob raceboats. all you gotta do is ask the person that has the boat for info. my point is that this is the fisrt and only dw with 6's and runs. as for the other inboard running dw its got bravos?? no comparison

glassdave 06-14-2008 06:53 AM

Hi Dave, what was the reason for going with the 6's over the Arnesons? I also remember a I/O boat that was built by AMT, i believe it may have been a 30 with sbc's/Bravos, but do you have fill in the notch at the transom? Or is it a insert that comes out of the mold to allow the I/O setup? Just curious

The 30 we raced was a SS/OB build by Lee Austin. fantastic handeling boat.
