An excerpt from Scott Porta's FB page Nick Scafidi of Nick's Creative Marine This is Nick Scafidi's new S class 32' doug wright. When finished, It will have reworked hydrodynamics (hull-bottom) along with aerodynamic upgrades. He will be racing as S 55, Nicks Creative Marine for the 2017 season. Nick is a seasoned offshore racer and a go fast junkie. He's smart, and in to win. He has left no stone unturned to get every ounce of performance out of this little rocket. as taken from Scott Porta FB page "Nick Scafidi's new 32' S class Doug Wright cat arrived this week at Porta Products. It will be fitted with custom designed lifting , hatch hardware , and cleats along with newly designed light weight 8" setback Porta hydraulic transom brackets. Doug Wright was incredibly cooperative and allowed us to come to the factory and spend a day cutting bulkheads and bending the race deck to reduce the transom height to only 7". This created a steep trailing deck surface aft of the cockpit to help lift the rear now made heavier by the new 300 xs outboards. This will help it fly level while airborne and run loose in the rear on the water. This idea came from the hulk. A well known s class champion that regularly kicked our collective butts in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Doug Wright also put special inserts in the molds' running surface giving us a virgin territory to install our next design performance modifications to the bottom. These modifications will increase acceleration and allow us to turn harder and safer. We will not be disclosing the running surface upgrades. However, it will look like no other s class hull has. Hopefully it will be the most controversial bottom of the coming season. Plans are to debut the Nicks Creative Marine S 55 at Clearwater. I was told that they can handle 400R motors as well. Scott said: " 57 lbs. if there is demand, we will supply them after these have been raced and tested. " . |

How did they do at the Sarasota race? I've seen pictures with them at the race, but there are no results posted yet. And I didn't see any pics of the Phoenix 32 at the race - were they not there? It looked like just 3 Super Stocks from the pics I've seen.

Nick and Scott came in 3 rd place after they received a 1 minute penalty for running over the turn buoy. We ended up 2nd in the , S-111, Professional Plumbing , 30' Skater. The S-12 , Specialty Marine Center, LA marine 30', finished in 4th. There were no Phoenix / Smart boats at the race.

Thanks for the info Ryan. Looks like you top 3 were all close in speed - with only 4 seconds separating each of your fast laps.

s-55 had the fastest lap time...was that on the lap they hit the buoy?

We did 7 laps, it's hard to say when there "FAST LAP" was . Our Skater is now 10 years old with a 7" more narrow tunnel, so we were quite happy with how we ran against these two much newer boats.

and the new DW is quite a bit lighter im sure. impressive running in the skater Mr Beckley :flag:

That was one of the best races I have ever seen. Literally a photo finish for 2nd and 3rd.

i have to confess, this class and the doug wrights are swingin me to like cats. saying that makes me want to go to say 5 our fathers and 10 hail mary's, it's like i sinned but wow they are nice i live streamed the season |
